Vendor Spotlight: Harmony Acres Family Produce

When you stop by the Harmony Acres booth at the Horton Farmers’ Market, you’re not just buying fresh vegetables or a beautiful bouquet of flowers. You’re supporting a family that has spent more than a decade growing healthy food, working together, and sharing the rewards of agriculture with their community. 

Harmony Acres Family Produce is owned by Issak and Fannie Wall, who began market gardening in 2013. While the term ‘market gardening’ might not be familiar to everyone, it’s a style of farming that’s perfectly suited for farmers’ markets. 

Rather than producing a single crop on a massive scale, market gardeners grow a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, on a smaller acreage, focusing on freshness, quality, and direct connections with the people who enjoy their harvest. It’s a hands-on approach using manual labour and small power tools, as opposed to large machinery,  that allows farmers to harvest produce at its peak and bring it straight to the market (Modern Grower, 2026). 

For the Walls, that work happens on their 17-acre farm, where everything is grown organically. Their booth is filled with seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, and colourful flower arrangements, offering shoppers plenty of ways to bring home the best of the growing season. Whether you’re planning dinners for the week, looking for fresh ingredients for a favourite recipe, or simply want a bouquet to brighten your kitchen table, Harmony Acres has something to offer. 

Growing organically is more than a farming method, it’s a philosophy that guides everything they do. As Issak and Fannie explain, “it is important to us to grow food that is healthy and will benefit others.” To make that happen, Harmony Acres relies on organic fertilizers and approved organic pest management practices instead of conventional synthetic products. Healthy soil is the foundation of every crop, and by nourishing the ground naturally, they help produce vegetables that are as wholesome as they are delicious. 

Weed management is another area where Harmony Acres takes a thoughtful, hands-on approach. Instead of depending on chemical herbicides, weeds are controlled through tilling and hoeing. Tilling helps prepare the soil while disrupting young weeds before they become established, and regular hoeing removes weeds throughout the growing season so crops have the space, water, and nutrients they need to thrive. While these methods require more time and physical labour, they’re an important part of organic farming and reflect the care that the Walls put into every harvest. 

Harmony Acres was built with family at its heart. When Issak and Fannie started the business, they had their seven children in mind. Farming gave them an opportunity not only to grow food, but also to grow together. They wanted their children to learn the value of hard work, and experience what it means to contribute to society in a meaningful way. Over the years, those lessons have paid off. Today, their children have embraced the market lifestyle and have taken on much of the day-to-day work, helping carry the family business into the next generation while Issak and Fannie enjoy agriculture and working the land. 

Even the name, Harmony Acres, reflects their values. The family lives on Harmony Acres Line, and because the farm has always been a place where the family works together, the name felt like a natural fit. It’s a reminder that every basket of produce and every bouquet reflects the efforts of an entire family working side by side. 

When it came time to choose a market, Horton Farmers’ Market stood out for all the right reasons. Friends first introduced them to the market, but what kept them coming back was the community itself. They appreciated that Horton Farmers’ Market attracts people who are genuinely looking for fresh, locally grown food. As they shared, they value that the market “supports small and local businesses,” and provides an environment where growers can connect directly with the people they’re feeding. Issak and Fannie feel Horton is more of a community where, “people come to buy fresh and organic vegetables and it’s not just a tourist attraction.”
