Clover Pecan began in 2019 after Cindy and Jerry moved back to Canada after living in Southern Georgia for 23 years. During their time in South Georgia, Cindy and Jerry had purchased a pecan farm, which was home to almost 4,000 trees and six different pecan varieties. “We had a 200 acre farm, we were just little guys in the pecan world,” Cindy laughed. “But we were just as passionate about pecans as the big farms.” Their farm was beautiful, and it was not an easy decision to leave, but as Cindy said, “life happens”, so they sold the farm and moved back to Canada. “We absolutely loved our farm and our trees, and we learned a lot about pecans, farming, and ourselves,” Cindy fondly smiled as she reminisced. “Once we moved back home, I went out to buy pecans because I eat a handful a day, religiously, but I just couldn’t. I guess I’m a pecan snob, but I couldn’t find fresh pecans anywhere,” Cindy explained. “I missed fresh Georgia pecans, and so did all my friends and family, so we decided that we would bring fresh pecans to us.” As a result, Clover Pecan was born, and Cindy and Jerry got to work, connecting with a farmer they knew from their time in Southern Georgia. The pecans were shelled, brought up to Canada, and kept in cold storage. “At first we only brought up fresh pecans,” Cindy said. “They were an instant hit in grocery stores, but then COVID-19 hit. We were told that we couldn’t go into stores anymore, so we found a way around that and got a distributor who could.” Clover Pecan’s fresh pecans then became available in Sobeys and Foodland stores across Ontario. ![]() Cindy and Jerry then began to introduce dark chocolate pecans as a seasonal item. “It was for fun,” Cindy laughed. “They were so loved that we kept them as a new addition to the family and added in praline and cinnamon pecans.” Currently, the dark chocolate pecans are only available at the Horton Farmers’ Market and for a limited time, so make sure to grab some before they are all gone! Clover Pecans has 6 different product offerings, including their plain pecan and maple pecan rolls, which are made up of fluffy nougat, dipped in caramel and rolled in fresh Georgia pecans. “We are also fixing to have turtle clusters, and are starting to look into small batches of culinary roasted pecans,” said Cindy. “I love the market and I love sharing our story.” Said Cindy with a smile. She even has a slideshow of photos from their farm, and she loves to tell market goers all about how pecans are farmed. “Many people are surprised at what a pecan tree looks like, and how we harvest the pecans” Cindy beamed as she showed us some photos. “It’s very cool. Most people have never given pecans a second thought, so I really enjoy sharing a bit of our life and passion. It’s super rewarding bringing a special part of our Georgia life back up to Canada.” Cindy loves all the pecan treats Clover Pecan has to offer, but her favourite is still plain pecans, and she still eats a handful of them everyday; just like she did when living on their farm in Georgia. “They are a nutritional powerhouse,” Cindy explained. “They have 19 essential vitamins and minerals, high antioxidants, fiber; all things that make the body happy.” With many different varieties of pecans, Cindy and Jerry are always using their farm-made connections to source the best, freshest pecans right from Georgia farmers. They purchase fresh pecans right from the farmers, arrange to have them trucked to their sheller, and then they are shipped in cold storage all the way up to Canada. Clover Pecan has been shipping up the Sumner variety of pecans, which are one of Georgia's best pecan varieties. “We want to bring our love, knowledge, and appreciation of Georgia pecans to Canada,” Cindy smiled. “Clover Pecan is a love of ours, and we will continue to expand our pecan family. We’re thrilled to be bringing Georgia pecans to Ontario, and we hope you love them as much as love sharing them with you.”
