Maple Fest is Coming April 25!

Maple Fest is almost here! Join us at the Horton Farmers' Market on Saturday April 25 from 9am-1pm to say goodbye to winter, celebrate all things maple and Canadian, and to gather with community, family, and friends indoors and outdoors for a sweet market day filled with local goods. The market will be bustling with demonstrations, a best-dressed Canadiana contest, a fun Goosechase scavenger hunt, and maple themed goodies from 50+ local farmers and vendors. 

Join the Goosechase Scavenger Hunt

During market hours (9am-1pm) test your maple knowledge and explore the market with our Goosechase scavenger hunt! From finding maple fact sheets around the market, to exploring themed vendor offerings and capturing fun demonstrations, Goosechase is fun for everyone.

There will be prize packs for the top two teams*. Thanks to our prize sponsors, Bella's Ferment Co., Big Dog Smokey Hot Sauce, Great Lakes Goat Dairy, Heat Wrap Love, Little Tallow, Our Fields, and Turtle + Bird - our vendor family is amazing!

*in the event of a tie in the top spot, two prizes will be awarded by random draw from the 1st place teams.

Visit St. Thomas Fire for a wood branding demonstration.

We've got a colouring contest for the under-12 crowd - print and colour at home if you miss picking up a sheet at the market on April 18.

We may even have story time with a special guest happening at 11 am! Help us keep the weather clear - he's only able to come out if it's dry! (but there will be story time either way!).}}

The picnic tables are coming back, and the fires will be lit. So come and stay a while.

Stop by Palmer's Maple Syrup

Join one of our local maple syrup farmers, Palmer's Maple Syrup, at their market table to explore their products, learn about tree tapping, enjoy some maple syrup sampling and more! Please refer to the event schedule day-of for accurate activity times. 

Catch Some Food Demos

Join Gen from Seed Confections for some maple syrup recipe demonstrations in the brand new Kitchen at Horton! Gen will show how versatile maple syrup is as a natural sweetener and ingredient, and may even have some samples available to try throughout the day. From candied nuts to syrup taffy and a themed mocktail, make sure you pop by to say hello and learn a new Canadian recipe! Pick up a recipe card or two to add these simply delicious options to your rotation.​

Dress to Impress

Grab your denim, hockey jerseys, plaid, and other Canadian garb and participate in our Best Dressed Canadiana contest! Whether you're sporting your fanciest Canadian tuxedo or repping your favourite hockey team, we can't wait to see some incredible outfits that celebrate all things Canadian. With some sweet prizes to be won, it's sure to be a tree-rific time!

Celebrate Spring

Coming together as a community is always a fun time, and it's even better when we get to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring! As the final Winter at Horton market date, come stock up during Maple Fest on all the best fresh and local goodies from farmers, artisans, and vendors. Don't forget, the Horton Farmers' Market is closed on Saturday, May 2 for our season turnaround, but we are back the very next week for opening day of Main Season and to celebrate Mother's Day weekend!
