Berry Hill Fruit Farm
Nestled in the heart of South Western Ontario, halfway between London and Lake Erie, sits the little gem known as Berry Hill Fruit Farm. Farmer Dick planted his first apple trees in 1980 and has expanded his products to include: peaches, plums, pears, strawberries and raspberries. Also grown on this intensive 50 acre farm just north of the town of Aylmer are sweet corn, tomatoes, potatoes, green beans and melons.
Alice opens the fruit stand in June with luscious fresh strawberries and offers a nice variety of the fruit and vegetables all through the summer and autumn. Recently Farmer dick has added ever-bearing strawberries and raspberries to this array of fresh picked produce.

Josie’s Plants & Produce
Back in the 70s my family was a vendor at the Horton Market. My dad, John Bakker, was a well-known supplier of bedding plants and I seem to unintentionally be following in his footsteps.
What started out as a means to stay at home with my young children and also contribute financially to the household has become a thriving small business. I personally start and transplant every single plant that I sell – I do not have anyone on my staff besides me. Yes, I do it all and it keeps me very busy at times, but I thoroughly enjoy the peacefulness, warmth and particularly the smell of growing plants. My husband of 27 years, Perry, has supported and encouraged my career choice even when I doubted my abilities. We agreed that what was best for our family was for me to work at home and raise our children ourselves. My three daughters have all left the nest now, but I still find myself in this career which has fulfilled me and nourished my children’s need for their mother emotionally and financially. I do not regret not entering the workforce, and can truthfully say that I wouldn’t change a thing. I have the best of both worlds – being a stay-at-home mom but still earning a living. It doesn’t get any better than that.

McSmith’s Organic Farm
We have been certified organic farmers since 1984. Our farm is diversified specializing in Organic poultry, Beef and seasonal vegetables.
The Horton Farmers’ Market is our venue for “specialty vegetables and herbs”.
R-Grow Farms, located in Elgin County is a family operated fruit and vegetable business, owned by Leo & Monika Rastapkevius.
Growing top quality produce has been our priority for over 20 years. All of our produce is hand harvested. Careful handling in the field, during packaging and delivery ensures that we maintain the products freshness and flavour.
Our production techniques are conventional but sensitive to environmental concerns. We are participants of the Environmental Farm Plan and we use Integrated Pest Management Techniques (IPM) to apply pesticides only when threshold limits have been exceeded. Our crops are also grown using alternative practices such as ground covers, row covers as well as mechanical manual cultivators.
At R-Grow Farms we are very enthusiastic about the “buy local, eat fresh” movement and encourage our consumers to buy the products that are “grown close to home”.
Taste the difference, enjoy the quality!
